Na vrchu vypínajúcom sa nad sútokom Hrona a Slatiny neďaleko Zvolena sa rozprestierajú zvyšky Pustého hradu, ktorý je podľa mnohých autorov rozlohou najväčším hradom na Slovensku a jedným z najväčších na svete.

Pôvod tejto pevnosti siaha do 12. storočia. Pustý hrad sa skladá z dvoch častí – horného a dolného hradu a patrí medzi významné archeologické nálezisko známe množstvom objavov predmetov rôznych kultúr doby bronzovej. K hradu vedie náučný chodník z mesta Zvolen. Záujemcov o návštevu však treba upozorniť na zakliateho mnícha, ktorý podľa známej povesti stráži tunajšie poklady. Mních má vraj namiesto jednej nohy kopyto, zjavuje sa v podobe pustovníka alebo i zvieraťa a ľuďom, ktorí na neho naďabia naháňa hrôzu.
