Hrad Glanzenberg pri Banskej Štiavnici je zaniknutý hrad spojený s baníckou minulosťou mesta. Zo zrúcanín sa otvára krásny výhľad a miesto oživuje aj povesť o zlatých jaštericiach.

Hrad Glanzenberg sa nachádza na kopci severne od centra Banskej Štiavnice a patrí k najstarším miestam spojeným s jej baníckou históriou. Vznikol začiatkom 13. storočia a jeho jadro tvorila štvorboká stavba so severnou vežou, obytným traktom a cistarnou. V 14. storočí pribudla rozsiahla obdĺžna budova a ďalšie objekty pri južnej hradbe. Hrad však nebol dlho využívaný, čoskoro bol opustený a koncom 15. storočia slúžil už len na spracovanie rudy. Po 17. storočí postupne zanikol. Dodnes sa zachovali len základy a menšie fragmenty, no miesto ponúka nádherný výhľad na Banskú Štiavnicu a pripomína jej slávnu banícku minulosť. S lokalitou sa spája aj povesť o zlatej a striebornej jašteričke, ktoré pastiera priviedli k bohatým žilám rudy a tým odštartovali rozkvet mesta. Glanzenberg je tak nielen historickou lokalitou, ale aj miestom legendami opradeného začiatku štiavnického baníctva.

Hrad Glanzenberg je prístupný celoročne, no najlepšie ho navštíviť počas jarných a letných mesiacov, keď je okolie najkrajšie. Hrad je ľahko prístupný pešo z centra Banskej Štiavnice. Cesta vedie miernym stúpaním, ale je vhodná pre všetky vekové kategórie a ponúka aj príjemnú prechádzku historickými uličkami.
