Der aus alten Birken, Eichen und Rotbuchen zusammengesetzte Laubwald war jahrelang gesäumt von Fichtenforst. 2021 wurden die Nadelbäume gefällt, 2022 verschiedene Laubbaumarten wie Eichen, Hainbuchen, Wildkirschen und Winterlinden gepflanzt.

Dieser Punkt ist Bestandteil der Wanderroute 10 Holderbach - Perlmuttfalter und Drosselschwärme und wurde erstellt im Rahmen des LIFE-Projektes "Patches & Corridors" an der Biologischen Station StädteRegion Aachen e.V.
