Der Federseesteg ist der einzige Zugang zum Federsee. Der 1,5 km lange Holzsteg führt den Besucher von Bad Buchau aus durch die faszinierende Moorlandschaft des Federseerieds. Ohne die vielen seltenen Pflanzen und Tiere zu stören wandert der Besucher trockenen Fußes über Feuchtwiesen und durchquert sonst undurchdringliche Schilfröhrichte. Von der Plattform im See und einem Aussichtsturm kann man die unberührte Natur hautnah erleben. Das NABU-Naturschutzzentrum Federsee bietet das ganze Jahr über öffentliche Führungen und buchbare Führungen für Gruppen an.

Der Federseesteg wurde erstmals im Jahr 1911 erbaut und seither vier Mal komplett erneuert.

Die letzte Erneuerung fand 2010 und 2011 statt. Die Baukosten beliefen sich auf ca. 800.000 Euro. Der Bau des Stegs kann nur im Winter bei strengem Frost erfolgen, da nur dann der ansonsten weiche Moorboden mit Baumaschinen befahrbar ist.
