Der Kathreinkogel gilt in seiner Gesamtheit als sehr mystisch. Dies ist unter anderem seiner ganz besonderen Form geschuldet. Bereits die Kelten besiedelten den Ort und kultivierten dort das Urkorn Emmer. Zahlreiche Artefakte und Ruinen bezeugen die einstigen Siedlungen. Am Gipfel befindet sich heute eine Kirche und unweit davon der Wunschbaum.
Als beliebtes Ziel zahlreicher Wanderer ist er voller Wünsche. Viele davon sind bereits in Erfüllung gegangen. Versuche auch du dein Glück.
