Az Oltár-patak és a Fekete-patak találkozásánál fekvő Magashídi-rét a Csóványos–Nagy-Hideg-hegy-gerinc északnyugati hegyoldalába vágódott, vadregényes völgyek „előszobája”, ahol ráadásul a börzsönyi kisvasutak nyomába is eredhetünk.
Az Oltár-patak és a Fekete-patak találkozásánál fekvő réten nemcsak a két vízfolyás „ágazik el”, hanem a völgyeikben vezető turistajelzések is – de a Fekete-völgy hajdani kisvasúti pályájából is innen kanyarodott az Oltár-patak völgyébe egy nyomvonal. Ez ráadásul a Magas hídon vezetett át: a hegyi vízfolyás meredek rézsűjén átívelő gerendahíd 21 méteres hosszával és 8 méteres magasságával a kemencei kisvasútrendszer legnagyobbja volt. Jelentőségét érzékelteti, hogy a mellette fekvő rét is róla kapta a nevét.

Public transport
- A Magashídi-réthez legrövidebb úton a nyári félévben hétvégenként közlekedő kemencei kisvasút Feketevölgy vasútállomástól tudunk eljutni.
- A Kóspallag, Kisinóci turistaház buszmegálló is jó kiindulópont, de ide nem minden busz megy fel, amelyik nem, arról a Kóspallag, templom megállónál kell leszállni.

Directions
- A Feketevölgy vasútállomástól a K, majd a Hamuháztól a K+ jelzéseket követve érkezünk meg a Magashídi-rétre (4,8 km, 201 m szintemelkedés).
- A Kisinóci turistaháztól a K jelzésen érkezünk meg a Rakodó nyergébe, majd itt balra, a K+ jelzésre fordulva érkezünk meg úti célunkhoz (8,3 km, 530 m szintemelkedés).
- Királyházáról a P jelzésen jutunk el a Három-hányásra, majd innen a K▲ jelzésen jobbra térve jutunk el a rétre (8,5 km, 538 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Parkolni a Feketevölgy vasútállomás mellett ingyenesen lehet.
- Az autót a Kisinóci turistaház mellett kialakított parkolóban is hagyhatjuk.
