Von der Staumauer des Zerfreilasees hat man einen atemberaubenden Blick nach Süden zum Zerfreilahorn und nach Norden zum Tomülhorn.
8 Kilometer von Vals taleinwärts liegt der Zerfreilasee. Der Name des Stausees stammt vom Bergdorf Zerfreila, das 1957 überflutet wurde. Mehr als 50 Jahre später liefert das kleine Wasserkraftwerk wertvollen und nachhaltigen Strom. Von der Staumauer aus oder von der Zerfreila Kapelle ist der Ausblick auf die Bergwelt von Vals mit der markanten Felsenpyramide des Zerfreilahorns besonders schön.
