Sohlgleite in der Werra am Ende des Krayenbergs nördlich von Merkers

Im Rechtsbogen der S-Kurve, die die Werra kurz vor Merkers beschreibt, beginnt das unruhige Wasser der Sohlgleite des ehemaligen Wehrs. Das Werra-Wehr bei Merkers wurde zur Sohlgleite zurückgebaut, das sind unregelmäßige Steinschwellen durch größere Steine auf dem Grund, die das Gefälle schrittweise über eine längere Strecke ausgleichen. Bei ausreichendem Wasserstand kann man die Sohlgleite mit robusten Booten mit Können durchfahren, vorher aber unbedingt prüfen.
