La pointe de Chassiron ou "le bout du monde" comme l'appellent les locaux mérite le détour pour sa falaise qui surplombe l'océan et le magnifique panorama qu'elle offre sur l'horizon.

La pointe de Chassiron, placée à l'extrémité nord de l'île d'Oléron est bien connue pour son phare, qui guide les bateaux en mer et les aide à passer le Pertuis d'Antioche.
Le cadre naturel est ici exceptionnel. La promenade sur la falaise de Chassiron permet d'apprécier ce site classé pour sa faune et sa flore.
Les éboulements étant fréquents, une grande vigilance s'impose, aussi est-il recommandé de ne pas se tenir trop près du bord de la falaise.

Proche du phare, remarquez la Croix des Marins, constituée à partir d'une chaîne de bateau. Cette croix évoque la mémoire des victimes des naufrages survenus au large de la pointe, le rocher d'Antioche étant particulièrement dangereux pour la navigation.
