Die Wallfahrtskirche ist der „Seligsten Jungfrau Maria, Heil der Kranken“ geweiht. Maria am Hochaltar wird auch gegenwärtig am meisten verehrt. Die zahlreichen Votivtafeln im alten Presbyterium sind vielfältige Zeichen des Vertrauens und der Dankbarkeit der frommen Verehrer Mariens.

Die Altarnische enthält eine lebensgroße Marienstatue mit dem Jesuskind (gotisch), das von einem zierlichen Strahlenkranz und einem lebhaften Engelreigen umgeben ist. Zwei schwebende Engel halten eine Krone über Maria. Das Spruchband lautet:„Heilige Maria, Mutter der schönen Liebe und der heiligen Hoffnung, du Heil der Kranken zu Neustift bitte für uns.“

Über der Altarnische befinden sich zwei Engelsgestalten, über den Säulenkapitellen auf der Evangelistenseite St. Benedikt, auf der Epistelseite der Hl. Berthold. St. Florian und St. Georg behüten das Heiligtum.
