Dem heiligen Nikolaus geweiht liegt die Pfarrkirche mit ihrem 61 Meter hohen Turm als Wahrzeichen im historischen Zentrum vom Rosenheim.
Die Stadtpfarrkirche Rosenheims, St. Nikolaus mit ihrem 61 Meter hohen Zwiebelturm sieht man die romanischen Wurzeln der Entstehungszeit um 1200 kaum mehr an.
Ab 1880 wurde die Kirche verlängert und neugotisch gestaltet. Seit 2006 erstrahlt sie frisch renoviert.
Erstmals urkundlich erwähnt wurde die St. Nikolauskirche im Jahre 1315 im „Konradinischen Matrikel“. Kurz darauf, im Jahre 1348, fand nach Überlieferungen das erste Nikolaus-Patrozinium statt. Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts wich die ehemalige Kirche einem spätgotischen dreischiffigen Neubau. Der 61 m hohe Kirchturm in Form einer Zwiebel aus dem Jahre 1641, gehört zu den Wahrzeichen Rosenheims. Die St. Nikolauskirche ist am Ludwigsplatz gelegen und somit in der Altstadt Rosenheim mit zahlreichen Einkaufs- und Einkehrmöglichkeiten in der Nähe. Ihr heutiges neugotisches Aussehen verdankt sie dem Münchner Architekten Johann Marggraff in den Jahren 1880 und 1882. Die letzte umfassende Renovierung fand in den Jahren 2004 bis 2008 statt.
