St. Wolfgang

In a scenic location with wide views over the hills of the surrounding countryside, a house of God was built in the 15th century. Lumberjacks, charcoal burners and carpenters were probably the most zealous pilgrims who migrated to the magnificent wooden figure from around 1480, because St. Wolfgang is their patron saint. A curative well also attracted people. At the altar of the Virgin Mary in 1818, St Brother Conrad was baptised by St. Wolfgang. A few hundred metres after the church, a dirt road leads back down into the valley to Schildorn. Here, the path leads to the left onto a tarred road, which is followed for a short distance to the village of Thal. Keep right at the crossroads. On a dirt road we continue to the forest. Up to the wooden chapel of Lugenz, the signage for hiking trail 6 now describes the further route through the high forest.
