Aufgrund der frühen Christianisierung dieser Gegend und der weitläufigen Täler wurde bereits 1280 die Pfarre in St. Oswald gegründet. Über mehrere Jahrzehnte Bauzeit ab 1469 wurde die ursprüngliche Kirche durch eine spätgotische Hallenkirche ersetzt. Meister Kaspar aus Judenburg setzte eine für den Alpenraum eher seltende Form eines zweischiffigen Langhauses. Dieses ziert ein prächtiges Sternrippengewölbe, das auf vier mittige Oktogonpfeilern ruht. Das Gewölbe hat erst Meister Christof Marl vollendet. Bemerkenswert ist ebenso der barocke Hochaltar, der ebenfals von einem einheimischen Maler, Ignaz Loy aus Judenburg, 1772 geschaffen wurde. Die Glasfenster stammen aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert. In der Osterzeit hängt ein besonders wertvolles Fastentuch in der Pfarrkirche
