Auf einem Hügel steht die schlichte langgestreckte Dorfkirche St. Marien. Sie wurde 1198 eingeweiht und ist Zeuge der wechselvollen Geschichte des Ortes. In der Kirche ist ein schöner alter Schnitzaltar zu sehen. Bis etwa zum Jahr 1225 entwickelte sich im Ort das Benediktiner Nonnenkloster Marienpforte. Die Klosterfrauen waren weithin bekannt für ihre Heilkunst, Krankenpflege und Armenfürsorge. Anna von Miltitz war die letzte Äbtissin des Klosters. Ihr Grabstein, auf dem sie in Lebensgröße zu sehen ist, steht im Innern der Kirche. Auch schöne handgeschnitzte Figuren auf dem Altar, sowie ein lebensgroßer gekreuzigter Christus sind in der Kirche zu sehen.
