Nach einem auch die Kirche zerstörenden Stadtbrand im Jahre 1842, wird 1846 - 1849 unter Einbeziehung des gotischen Vorgängerbaus von 1443 - 1464 eine dreischiffige neugotische Hallenkirche errichtet. Mit ihren zwei 75 Meter hohen Türmen ist die Kirche weit ins Land hinein sichtbar. Die Innenausstattung erfolgte nach Plänen von Carl Alexander von Heideloff. Der von ihm entworfene Altar entspricht dem Aufbau eines Flügelaltars. Als Vorlage für die Gestaltung der Kanzel mit den geschnitzten Figuren der zwölf Apostel dienten die Figuren von Peter Vischer am Sebaldusgrab in Nürnberg. Auf der zweigeschossigen Westempore die Jehmlich-Orgel von 1851/1933. Bei der Prospektgestaltung war auch Carl Alexander von Heideloff beteiligt.

Carl Gottlieb Jehmlich (1786 - 1867) & Söhne, Zwickau, bauten nach sechs Vorgängerinstrumenten 1851 die Orgel mit mechanischer Traktur und Schleifwindladen. II/44. Seit 1495 sind in St. Aegidien Orgeln nachweisbar. 1933 erfolgte ein klanglicher und technischer Umbau und die Erweiterung um ein drittes Manual. III/56. Ein neuer Spieltisch mit den Manualumfängen von C - a''', dem Pedalumfang von C - f ' und elektro-pneumatischer Steuerung dokumentieren den technischen Stand dieser Epoche. Als man 2002 mit den Sanierungsarbeiten in der Kirche begann, wurde die Orgel zunächst eingehaust und von 2003 bis 2005 nach dem Baukonzept von 1933 durch die Orgelwerkstatt Christian Scheffler, Sieversdorf, restauriert.

Public transport

Vom Leipziger Hauptbahnhof erreichen Sie Oschatz ohne Umsteigen in rund 35 Minuten mit dem Regional-Express (RE 50). Auch aus Dresden bestehen regelmäßige Direktverbindungen mit einer Fahrzeit von etwa 45 Minuten.

 Vom Bahnhof Oschatz gelangen Sie zu Fuß in etwa 15 bis 20 Minuten in die historische Innenstadt und zur St. Aegidienkirche.

Alternativ stehen vom Bahnhof aus Busverbindungen sowie Taxen zur Verfügung. Je nach Verbindung können Sie eine innenstadtnahe Haltestelle nutzen und erreichen die Kirche von dort aus in wenigen Gehminuten.

Directions

Oschatz ist sowohl über die Autobahn A14 als auch über die Bundesstraße B6 gut erreichbar. Aus Richtung Leipzig gelangen Sie über die A14 (Anschlussstelle Mutzschen) oder direkt über die B6 nach Oschatz. Aus Richtung Dresden erreichen Sie Oschatz über die A14 (Anschlussstelle Döbeln-Nord) mit anschließender Weiterfahrt über die B169 oder alternativ über die B6. Beide Strecken bieten eine gute Anbindung an das regionale und überregionale Straßennetz.

Parking

Kostenfreie Parkplätze in der Innenstadt und Umgebung:
  • Parkplatz Altmarkt: Zentral gelegen und ideal für Besuche der historischen Altstadt.
  • Parkmöglichkeiten im Bereich Sperlingsberg: Zentrumsnaher Parkplatz mit guter Erreichbarkeit der Innenstadt.

 In der Innenstadt ist das Parken teilweise zeitlich begrenzt möglich. Bitte beachten Sie die jeweiligen Beschilderungen vor Ort und verwenden Sie gegebenenfalls eine Parkscheibe.

Von den innenstadtnahen Parkmöglichkeiten erreichen Sie die Kirche bequem zu Fuß.
