Z pôvodnej stavby sa dochovalo presbytérium a opevnenie. V kostole nebol doposiaľ realizovaný stavebno-historický výskum, no predpokladá sa výskyt tredovekej maľby.
Od r.1552 je kostol protestantský. Výraznou úpravou prešiel v r.1801, keď získal súčasnú podobu. V r. 1832 boli realizované kostolné lavice, v r. 1866 bol nadstavaný a zastrešený ohradný múr. V tomto období vznikla výmaľba stropu a empory. V r. 1907 bol do kostola umiestnený organ s neorenesančnou organovou skriňou od majstra Š. Kerékgyártó z Debrecína.
Priestoru dominuje kazateľnica a centrálne umiestnený stôl Pána. Priestor je lemovaný obiehajúcou emporou s parapetom pokrytým maľbami florálnych dekorov. Neskorobarokový strop je taktiež maľovaný, kazetový. Centrálna doska je dekorovaná rozvinutým kvetom a nápisom s vročením 1801. Jediným sochárskym dielom slaveckého kostola rezonančná strieška nad kazateľnicou, kde je umiestnená socha pelikána kŕmiaceho svoje potomstvo vlastnou krvou.
