Im idyllischen Söllhuben bei Riedering. Nach Unwettern 1739 und 1757 plante man den Neubau der Pfarrkirche mit Johann M. Fischer, einem bedeutenden Rokoko-Baumeister.

Die ersten urkundlichen Erwähnungen der Urpfarrei Söllhuben geht auf das Jahre 924 zurück. Die Kirche war und blieb bis zur Säkularisation Eigentum des Erzbistums Salzburg. Daraus folgerte auch das Patronat (Salzburger Diözesepatron St. Rupert).

Unter weltlicher Herrschaft stand die Hofmark Söllhuben seit 1247 bei den Herren von Aschau. Ab 1347 bei den Freiherrn von Freyberg auf Hohenaschau und ab 1606 bei den Freiherren und Grafen von Preysing.

Lediglich noch einige Grundrisse sind vom Vorgängerbau der heutigen Kirche erhalten geblieben. Aufgrund eines Blitzschlages und eines schweren Unwetters Mitte des 18. Jhdts. wurd die Kirche wurde vom berühmten Baumeister Johann Michael Fischer neu geplant. Bemerkenswert sind die übergroßen Fenster an der Süd- und Nordwand, die dem Raum eine lichtdurchflutete Leichtigkeit verleihen.
Die Pfarrkirche Söllhuben ist das letzte Bauwerk von dem bekannten Baumeister, denn dieser verstarb bevor die Kirche fertig gestellt wurde. Für eine Dorfkirche ist die Architektur herausragend.

Johann Michael Fischer plante auch weitere Kirchen in Riedering: Die auf eine Burgkapelle zurückgehende Filialkirche St. Vitus und Andreas in Gögging sowie die Wallfahrtkirche Maria Stern in Neukirchen.
