Die Architektur entspricht den Stilmitteln des Historismus mit neoromanischen Stilelementen wie Rundbögen.

Die Kirche wurde im späten 19. Jahrhundert gebaut und ist 54m lang 27m breit und hat eine turmhöhe von 81 Metern. 2016 wurde der Turm restauriert. Sie steht auf dem Martin Luther Platz in der Dresdner Neustadt. Im Innenraum befinden sich 3 Schiffe mit 1400 Sitzplätzen. Dominierend ist das Querschiff mit 2 grossen Rundfenstern. Die Kirche wurde im 2. Weltkrieg nur wenig beschädigt. Die Turmuhr wurde1886 in Auftrag gegeben.(Turmuhrenfabrik B.Zachariä) Die Orgel wurde 1937 mit einer elektronischen Trakturen ausgestattet. Das Instrument hat heute 60 Register.
