Die seit Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts auf der Insel lebenden evangelischen Christen erhielten 1964 mit der Einweihung der Heilig-Geist-Kirche ihre erste eigene Kirche.

Das Kircheninnere stellt ein Gesamtkunstwerk dar, entworfen und ausgestaltet von dem bedeutenden Heidelberger Kunstmaler und Bildhauer Harry MacLean (1908-1994). Die Buntglasfenster sind unter dem Leitmotiv des Heiligen Geistes gestaltet. Sowohl die Form als auch die Gestaltung des Altartisches lehnen sich an die Beschreibung und "Bauanleitung" der Bundeslade der Israeliten an. Harry MacLean gestaltete auch die ev. Auferstehungskirche in Konstanz-Litzelstetten und die Chorfenster der ev. Christuskirche in Konstanz-Wollmatingen.
