Die Spitalkapelle

This late Gothic chapel, a small hall building, was erected between 1494 and 1496 by a Lower Bavarian building workshop. The shape of the buttresses inside is characteristic of this period, as are the fish-bladder-decorated traceried windows. The figures inside, John and Mary, accompanying the wooden crucifix, on the side altars of St. John of Nepomuk and St. Charles Borromeo are from the period of 1750 to 1790. They partly originate from the parish church, and the relief of Mary with child under the balcony is the remnant of the neo-Gothic high altar created by the Speyer sculptor Gottfried Renn in 1859.

According to the wishes of the founder Nikolaus von Böhl, it was built in honor of God the Almighty, the Mother of God Mary, St. Anthony, St. Valentine, and all saints of God.

While the hospital chapel as a structure has survived nearly unchanged for five hundred years, nothing remains of the original furnishings from the late Middle Ages and the 18th century.

In the courtyard of the property near the entrance gate stands a newly renovated funeral lamp.
