Die St.Martinskirche oder Leutkirche war bis zur Klosterauflösung die Pfarrkirche der Stadt Gengenbach. ...

... Diese beachtenswerte Kirche liegt außerhalb der ursprünglichen Ummauerung der Stadt. Wenn das heutige Bauwerk aus der Mitte des 15. Jh. datiert, so geht die ursprüngliche Anlage auf die Karolingerzeit zurück. Der schlichte Baukörper der Kirche schmiegt sich der natürlichen Steigung des Hanggeländes meisterhaft an. Nach der Stadtzerstörung 1689 wurde der bekannte Schnitzer Philipp Winterhalter beauftragt, die barocken Altäre zu schnitzen. Eine Kostbarkeit ist die Rokokokanzel, die ihren Aufgang in dem nördlichen Turm an der Außenwand hat, die auch zu dem von der Kirche sichtbaren St.Anna-Chor führt. Die Ausführung datiert aus den Jahren 1762 und 1766.
