Die barocke Peterskirche ist für Bruchsal eine besondere Kirche: Sie ist, wie das Treppenhaus des Barockschlosses ein Werk Balthasar Neumanns, außerdem hat sie als einziges Gotteshaus in Bruchsal den schweren Bombenangriff vom März 1945 unbeschadet überstanden. In ihrer heutigen Gestalt ist sie über 250 Jahre alt.
Gedacht als Pfarrkirche und Grablege der Fürstbischöfe, hat sie die Form eines gleicharmigen (griechischen) Kreuzes. Lang- und Querhaus sind jeweils 50m lang, der 16m hohe Innenraum wird von Tonnengewölben überdeckt. Die Kuppel in der Mitte misst 22m. Unter ihr befindet sich die Fürstengruft, in der die sterblichen Überreste der Bruchsaler Fürstbischöfe ruhen.
Die beiden dreistöckigen Türme sind 58m hoch und beherbergen eines der ältesten noch erhaltenen Barockgeläute im nordbadischen Raum.
Außerhalb der Gottesdienstzeiten kann die Kirche nur gelegentlich offen gehalten werden; Termine können erfragt werden.
