Elhelyezkedése miatt a kőhányáspusztai turistaházat 2021-re modern látogatóközponttá alakították át. A gróf Esterházy Móric Ökoturisztikai Központ az egykori birtokterület tulajdonosáról kapta nevét, aki első nagybirtokosként nyitotta meg uradalma területét a kirándulók előtt az 1930-as években. Az ökoturisztikai központ az egykori sváb település múltját, néprajzi értékeit is bemutatja.
A kétszintes épület földszintjén a kiállítások a Vértes természeti értékeit, épített örökségét mutatják be, míg az emeleten a 45 férőhelyes turistaszálló helyezkedik el.
Kőhányás egykor
A tektonikai erők hatására vetővonalak mentén besüllyedt hosszanti völgy a Vértes keleti és nyugati részét választja el; több pontról is láthatjuk szinte egyenes, markánsan leszakadó falát. A szűk árkon nem csak napjainkban húzódik út, már a római korban is ez jelentette az átjárást a hegyvidék közepén.
A 18. században közel hetven földműves és erdei munkás lakta Kőhányást. Az Esterházyak két fontos központját, Majkot és Csákvárt összekötő út mentén 1878-ban épült a birtokosok nevét viselő, Avilai Szent Teréz tiszteletére szentelt kápolna – ezt ma jó állapotban láthatjuk. Előtte egy kecses, fából készült harangláb áll, kicsit távolabb pedig egy boltozatot formáló kőfalban találjuk Szent Teréz szobrát, Kanalas Sándor erdélyi fafaragómester művét.
Falut már nem találunk itt, maroknyi lakója mellett csak a túrázók használják házait. A turistaház és a vendégházak az Országos Kéktúra útvonalán állnak.
