Es ist belegt, dass die Höhle schon in Altsteinzeit, Jungsteinzeit, Bronzezeit und vorrömischen Eisenzeit von Menschen als Unterschlupf genutzt wurde. Fundmaterial dieser Region, betsehend aus Knochen, Feuer- und Steinwerkzeugen sowie einigen Kunstgegenständen, gibt Achäologen bis heute Rätsel auf.
