Die Große Scheuer ist die größte und bekannteste der Höhlen des Rosensteins. Sie ist 44 m lang und bis zu 7 m hoch. Sie verfügt über 3 groß Öffnungen, die die gesamte Höhle ausleuchten. Die Höhle befindet sichin den Gesteinen des Weißjura Delta. Die Große Scheuer und die westlich benachbarte Höhle „Das Haus“ waren einst Teil einer einzigen großen Höhle. Das Zwischenstück zwischen den Höhlen liegt jetzt als Gesteinstrümmer am Hang des Rosensteins.
