Ein Waldstück, in dem Schatzsucher im 18. Jahrhundert Spuren hinterlassen haben.

Spätestens ab dem 18. Jahrhundert wurde hier nach Kupfer, Blei, Zink, Silber und Gold geschürft. Am auffälligsten sind die vielen Pingen. Dabei handelt es sich um trichterförmige Krater im Waldboden. Manche haben nur drei, andere bis zu sieben Meter Durchmesser. Sie sind Überreste eines primitiven Tagbaus: Man hat einfach ein Loch in den Boden gegraben und herausgeholt, was zu holen war. Mittlerweile wachsen in den Pingen wieder Bäume und sie unterscheiden sich bis auf die Kraterform nicht vom Rest des Waldes. Sorglos herumspringen sollten man in diesen trotzdem nicht. Es gibt Gegenden, in den die Trichter durch den Zusammenbruch darunter verlaufender Stollen entstanden sind. Dieser Sicherheitshinweis gilt übrigens weltweit.

Das historische Wissen um die Vorgänge im Wald voller Pingen ist dürftig. Die ersten urkundlichen Erwähnungen des Bergbaus in Plescherken stammen erst aus der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts. Von 1759 bis 1762 stand er demnach unter Frohnfreiheit. Die Blei- und Silberausbeute war so gering, dass die Betreiber keine Pacht abliefern mussten. Wirtschaftlich ebenfalls erfolglos verlief 100 Jahre später die groß angelegte Suche eines laut zeitgenössischen Quellen „Pariser Unternehmers“ nach Gold. 1868 wurde der Betrieb endgültig stillgelegt. Nördlich der Pingen wird das Gelände steiler. Dort sind noch drei Stollen zu finden. Der geräumigste führt nur etwa vier Meter in den Berg hinein. Eine Feuerstelle und Müll weisen auf eine neuzeitliche Nutzung als Party-Location hin.

ACHTUNG: Unter der Stromleitung an der Straße beginnt der Weg Richtung Nordosten, über den man nach etwa zehn Minuten Fußmarsch das alte Bergwerksgelände erreicht. Die Pingen und Stollen sind links und rechts der Wege im Wald „verteilt“. Taschenlampe zum Hineinleuchten nicht vergessen! Stollen nicht betreten!
