Das Schloss ist ein historisches Schloss in Kärnten, bekannt für seine beeindruckende Architektur und seine malerische Lage. Es bietet faszinierende Einblicke in die Geschichte.
Mit den Hunnen hat das Schlösschen nichts zu tun. Der Name verweist auf eine Quelle, die in trockenen Jahren, sogenannten Hungerjahren, versiegte. Die Bezeichung Hunnenbrunn kam erst später auf, als man den Namen nicht mehr zu deuten wusste und so wandelte man ihn um. Ursprünglich war es ein Bauerngut, das Georg Freiherr von Aichelberg im Jahre 1546 erwarb und zum Schloss umbauen ließ. Weitere Besitzer und Bauaherren waren die Khevenhüller, dann die begüterte Handelsfamilie Zenegg, die Goess u.v.m. Der von den Khevenhüllern in Auftrag gegebene und mit ihrem Wappen geschmückte Renaissancebrunnen kam 1948 ins Schloss Karlsberg. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg gab es in Hunnenbrunn eine Schule des weiblichen Arbeitsdienstes. Von 1964 bis 2009 war eine Landwirtschaftliche Fachschule untergebracht. Bei der Restaurierung 1972 hat das schloss viel von seinem ursprünglichen Charakter eingebüßt.
