Wichtige Indizien zur Datierung des Daches sind die Wetterfahnen, sechs an der Zahl, die den Bergfried und den Westturm bekrönen. Sie tragen das Wappen des Gerard Colyn und dessen Ehefrau Alexandrine von Efferen, die die Herrschaft Beusdael von 1606 bis 1643 besaßen. Ein Wappenstein Colyn von Efferen trägt die Jahreszahl 1626. Gut 250 Jahre später, genauer gesagt 1882, fügte der damalige Hausherr Graf d´Oultremont eine neogotische Kapelle, das etwas überdimensionierte Portal mit zwei flankierenden Türmchen und die Steinbrücke hinzu.
