Majestically situated on the Florentinerberg, a sun blessed hill overlooking Baden-Baden, is the Neues Schloss or New Castle – the former residence of the Margraves of Baden.
While the New Castle is privately owned and not open to the public, including its gardens, it’s still well worth strolling up to the terrace in front of it. From there, you can enjoy stunning panoramic views over Baden-Baden.
Set atop the Florentinerberg, the New Castle has a rich history. It served as the residence of the Margraves of Baden from the late 15th century until the end of the 17th century, and from 1535 onwards, it was home to the Margraves of Baden-Baden. Originally a medieval castle complex, it was rebuilt and expanded several times over the centuries.
