Seit 1547 ist in Graupa das erste Mal ein Rittergut nachweisbar. Nach Erwerb durch Christoph von Loos und dem dadurch entstanden Wildgarten entwickelt es sich zum Jagdhaus.

1755 geht das Guthaus in kürfürstliche Hand und es beginnt der Bau des Jagdschlosses  als Anlage im barocken Stil. Im 19. Jahurndert brennt das Jagdschloss nieder, wird jedoch sofort wieder aufgebaut. Seit 1831 ist das Jagdschloss Graupa aus dem Privatbesitz der sächsischen Königsfamilie ausgegliedert und ist Staatseigentum. 2006 wurde beschlossen, dass unter Einbeziehung des Jagdschlosses die Richard-Wagner-Stätten geschaffen werden. Im Jahr 2013 wird das Jagdschloss mit neuer Richard Wagner Austellung eröffnet. Heute kann das Museum und verschiedene Veranstaltungen besucht werden. Der Festsaal und die Remise der Richard-Wagner-Stätten bieten ein feierliches Ambiente für verschiednen Feierlichkeiten.
