At the time of the medieval era, Roccasparvera comprised four fortresses. Remnants of these structures, the Bolleris Gate is an ancient keep from the 15th century through which goods and people travelled to and from France. It was occasionally used as the residence of the Bolleris family, whose name the tower bears.
