The Moosenmättle (approx. 800 metres above sea level) has always been a popular spot for hikers. More recently, Nordic walkers and mountain bikers have also become frequent guests on this plateau between Kirnbach, Lauterbach and Hornberg. The Liefersberg is the centre of all activities. A large car park and public toilets are available here and the "Bergstüble", a rustic log cabin-style snack bar, is a popular place to stop for a bite to eat.
Once a year on a Friday evening in summer, the peace and quiet is over. The earth shakes to the sound of booming basses and several thousand mostly young people party until the early hours of the morning. FC Kirnbach has been organising its Moosenmättle open-air rock festival up here for 30 years. It now has cult status in the region. But don't worry, just two days later there is nothing left to remind you of the invasion of music lovers. The area is then tidied up and the Liefersberg is once again an oasis of calm.
