Le Tour is a small village with a large parking area, a smattering of houses, a couple modest hotels, plus the gondola chairlift up to la Balme. On our TMB tours, we normally hike to le Tour and then take the bus to Chamonix. Check the bus schedule for the next departure, and you can wait at the restaurant if you’d like a drink.
The buses are free if you’re staying in the valley, but if you don’t have a guest card with you the drivers don’t check.
There is also a train station just a 15 minute walk down the road in Montroc.
