This gate spans 2280 meters and stretches over the famous Tagus River at Lisbon
Ponte 25 de Abril is the third largest suspension bridge in the world used by cars and for railway transport. Although its construction was already planned in 1913, the construction didn’t start until the 1960s. On 6 August 1966 it was inaugurated as Salazar Bridge, named after the former Portuguese prime minister. Due to the Carnation Revolution on 25 April 1974, when Portugal became a Republic, it was renamed. As to its color and structure it is often compared with Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
