Die große Bogenbrücke aus Bundsandstein überbrückt die künstlich geschaffene Furt über die Nagold. Ca. 1856 wurde das Bett der Nagold in den Felsen gehauen um das Hintere Tal vom Hochwasser zu befreien. Auch für die Flösser war es eine wesentliche Erleichterung.

Erbaut 1853-1856 unter der Leitung von Lulius Naeher im Zug der Planung einer Nagoldstraße, dazu Durchbruch des Felsensattels an der gleichen Stelle, Begradigung der Nagold und Trockenlegung  des Flußlaufes durch das Hintere Tal sowie der Bau eines sechs Meter hohen Wasserfalls mit Floßkanal. Darüber hinaus wurde erkannt, dass sich die Nagold an dieser Stelle zur Stromerzeugung nutzbar ist. Schon zu dieser Zeit wurden die Arbeiten bevorzugt durch Menschen aus Südtirol / den Dolomiten verrichtet. Angeworben als Steinspalter und Spezialisten für die Steinbearbeitung wurde diese schwere Arbeit ausgeführt. Dynamit, Schlagbohrmaschinen oder Presslufthammer waren zu dieser Zeit noch nicht erfunden. Siehe dazu Bericht von Dr. Trimm, in der Pforzheimer Zeitung Mai 2025.
