Spotted along the Wiese: dippers, grey herons and even beavers
Patient and attentive observers will be able to see a variety of animals and plants. Two species in particular have settled along the Wiese: the grey heron and the dipper. The former is known for its qualities of hunter in rivers and meadows where it patiently waits for mice, fishes or other preys. Much more reserved and furtive, the dipper plunges to hunt for water insects. Small tip: one can spot the dipper in the proximity of bridges along the landscaped areas of the Wiese. But our friend the beaver is also present in this river. The wanderer coming from Lörrach will certainly see the traces of this mammal on the willow trees dented by its powerful jaws… but quiet! Let us not disturb our friends the animals, and let us never leave the trails! Thanks for them!
