Huge sandstone terrace with a magnificent view and mysterious messages.

The almost 2,000-year-old Kriemhildenstuhl is one of the best-preserved Roman quarries north of the Alps. A special feature are the signs and inscriptions carved into the rock, which were immortalised here by Roman legionnaires. Stone tables and benches invite you to enjoy a picnic with a view of the town, the sea of vines and the Rhine plain. A plaque explains the history of the Kriemhildenstuhl, the life of Roman legionnaires and craftsmen as well as the origin and meaning of the numerous inscriptions and rock carvings.
