The Filzteich offers a wide range of opportunities for active recreation.
An 85 m long large water slide, a children's slide, a diving platform, water treaders and rowing boats offer the ideal conditions for an ideal swimming experience. Table tennis tables, a suspended ropeway and several children's playgrounds provide variety and fun, while beach chairs, loungers, deckchairs for hire, a huge range of sunbathing lawns and a nudist beach invite visitors to relax and unwind. Open-air restaurants and snack bars round off a visit to the Filzteich. Numerous events also take place during the bathing season.

The felt pond is one of the earliest and largest water reservoirs in the Schneeberg mining area. The name is connected to the peat bogs in its catchment area, colloquially known as felt. These are also responsible for the brownish discoloration of the water due to bog turbidity. The Filzteich has been the region's lido since 1933.
