The sculpture "The Seated Woman" was created by Martine Andernach during the sculpture symposium that took place in 1993 at the Swan Pond.
“My exclusive theme is the image of man in the three classical forms: head, torso, and complete figure. In shaping these basic forms, I am fundamentally a sculptor. I take away, lay bare, uncover inner structures, and reduce myself to the essentials. Above all, the reduction places high demands on the viewer, requiring new habits of seeing, an opening up. If you engage with it, you will sense the calm, but also the intensity that I have incorporated into my work.”
