It is a 17th-century pillory of the "Bragança" type, featuring an octagonal shaft (the part of the column between the capital and the base). The column culminates in a rounded capital, upon which an equal-armed cross is inscribed, adorned with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic figures at its ends and intervals.
There are also representations of the sun and the moon. It has a parallelepiped-shaped top where the coat of arms of Portugal is depicted, surrounded by a man with open arms, and displaying a bull on the opposite face. Initially used as a legal landmark, nowadays it has lost that function and gained historical and cultural value. The pillory underwent intervention, including the removal of a step and the addition of chains.
