Jedoch erst 200 Jahre später, 1778 wurde der Bau einer überdachten Holzbrücke ohne Mittelpfeiler verwirklicht. Diese Brücke hielt wiederum fast 200 Jahre und wurde 1954 / 55 abgerissen und nach den alten Plänen neu aufgebaut.
Die überdachte (und befahrbare) Holzbrücke prägt somit seit über 200 Jahren das Forbacher Ortsbild. Sie ist in Ihrer Bauart einzigartig in Deutschland und sogar in Europa. Ein Blick vom Ufer der Murg hinauf in den Brückenbogen vermittelt einen Eindruck über die hohe Zimmermannskunst der damaligen Zeit.
