Similar to Castro de Carrazedo or Picoto, which is also a fortified settlement near to the village of Carrazedo, approximately 750 meters eastwards, it is of difficult observation due to the thick oak forest that extends over the entire area. It is located on a landscape, however, its positioning does not permit a good strategic control, neither good conditions of natural defense.
To the south, where the entrance is located, the location is at a great vulnerability. However, there were no doubts in relation to the defense system of this part of the structure. Unlike what is commonly observed in fortified settlements in this region, the fortified settlement of Castelinho strengthened its defensive system with a prominent tower to the north, in the sector where it needed it the least. This is because this side, due to the terrain morphology, has the best natural defensive conditions. From this shale tower, a wall line emerges, only perceptible through a pronounced slope that encircles a small oblong-shaped platform. The material elements observed are limited to the remains of the tower, a structure whose debris can still be easily distinguished amidst the forest undergrowth.
