Diese antike Vergnügungsstätte der Römer bot insgesamt 20.000 Menschen Platz. Über Aufzüge aus einem heute noch erhaltenen Keller unter der Arena wurden die Darsteller und die Tiere nach oben befördert. Das unterirdische Gewölbe war auch der Grund dafür, dass die bei den Römern so beliebten nachgestellten Seeschlachten nicht stattfinden konnten.
