The pilgrim hike follows the Swiss Via Jacobi (No. 4) along Lake Thun. It starts at Sundlauenen near Interlaken and leads above the lake past Merligen to the outskirts of Gunten (Schönörtli), where there is a parking lot. The path is well marked.

The section Thun - Amsoldingen is part of the Berner Oberländer Route, which will lead us from Brünig to Amsoldingen and can be taken as an alternative to the original route Merligen - Amsoldingen. We are on the Swiss Jakobsweg.
