Sporty pilgrims in good physical condition can complete the original route of the Mariazellerweg in seven stages. In total, we cover a distance of 172 kilometers, with a maximum daily distance of 31.9 kilometers.

A hike in the untouched nature of the Kalkalpen National Park, completely away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, awaits us on the royal stage of the Mariazell Pilgrimage Trail. In the south-east of Steyr, we make a pilgrimage to Damberg and Schwarzberg, enjoying wonderful views on all sides and being inspired by the seclusion of this mystical region. At an altitude of 1000 meters (the highest point of today's stage) we reach the Spadenberg and later the Geierkogel and from now on hike downhill to Maria Neustift.

On this stage, we explore the landscape between Maria Neustift and Waidhofen an der Ybbs, encountering the pilgrimage church in Maria Neustift, many chapels and wayside shrines along the way, the church in Konradsheim in an exposed location and many a deer in the woods and meadows before Waidhofen, which are not at all shy.

Pilgrims can complete the original route via Steyr and Maria Neustift in eight stages. From Waidhofen, the classic Mariazellerweg rejoins the route coming from Seitenstetten and Sonntagberg. A total of 157 kilometers are covered on this route in eight daily stages. The highest daily distance is 30 kilometers.
