Pilgrim walks in Ertl

Sporty pilgrims in good physical condition can complete the original route of the Mariazellerweg in seven stages. In total, we cover a distance of 172 kilometers, with a maximum daily distance of 31.9 kilometers.

On this stage, we explore the landscape between Maria Neustift and Waidhofen an der Ybbs, encountering the pilgrimage church in Maria Neustift, many chapels and wayside shrines along the way, the church in Konradsheim in an exposed location and many a deer in the woods and meadows before Waidhofen, which are not at all shy.

Pilgrims can complete the original route via Steyr and Maria Neustift in eight stages. From Waidhofen, the classic Mariazellerweg rejoins the route coming from Seitenstetten and Sonntagberg. A total of 157 kilometers are covered on this route in eight daily stages. The highest daily distance is 30 kilometers.

Hike through rolling hills with beautiful views. After the ski lift at Glasenberg, the path is briefly left to stay on the ridge. From here on, farm roads. Most of the strain is on the feet. Risk of blisters!
