Pilgrim walks in Farini

The Via degli Abati is a route of about 190 km, divided into 8 stages crossing the regions of Lombardia, Emilia Romagna, and Toscana.

An ancient route of about 190 km that connects Pavia to Pontremoli along the Trebbia Valley, passing through Emilia-Romagna.

From Nicelli we went down to the Nure stream where instead of fording it we preferred to get to Farini to buy some fruit to eat, then we climbed back up to the little village of Groppallo where we stayed and had dinner at the Salini hotel (recommended).

From Bobbio, crossing the magnificent Gobbo bridge that spans the Trebbia, you ascend in altitude up to the Generali saddle and exceed 1200 meters. A challenging stage due to the elevation gain and the heat. You arrive at Nicelli where we stayed overnight and dined at the farm stay Le Sarmase in a quiet and family-friendly environment (recommended).

Da Groppallo rimanendo in quota tra i 900 e i 1000 mt. abbiamo proseguito per Bardi, dopo circa 9 km. abbiamo preso il sentiero della variante alta del percorso che ci ha portato al Monte di Lama, che con i suoi 1345 mt. è stato il punto più alto di tutto il cammino, visto che eravamo in forze siamo anche saliti al Colle il Castellaccio ed al Groppo di Gora (da tutte le cime, essendo libere da alberi belle vedute sulle valli circostanti). Scesi a Bardi, abbiamo pernottato all'albergo Bue Rosso (consigliato).
