The route, which is part of the network of Cammini Francigeni, starts in the city of Pavia and mainly develops on paths, mule tracks, and dirt roads, ending in the city of Pontremoli.
Asphalted roads are only encountered near populated centers.
The route is part of the Walking & Cycling for future project, through which Movimento Lento offers every Friday a walking or cycling route whose starting and ending points are reachable by public transport (train, bus, etc.)
