Pilgrim walks on the District Entlebuch

The trail network "Himmlische Pfade" forms connections around Lake Lucerne in Central Switzerland between monasteries and pilgrimage churches, across mountains and valleys, depending on the weather.

5th stage of the pilgrimage route following the footsteps of Brother Klaus von Flüe, who aborted his pilgrimage before Liestal in 1487 and returned to the Ranft: From Werthenstein (bridge & pilgrimage site) via Schachen, Malters, Blatten, Renggloch to Kriens (below the Gallus church) 16.9 km, 167 m ascent, 225 m descent, (=19.3 Lkm*) 3.2 km asphalt. *Lkm = performance kilometers: 100 m ascent or 300 m descent count as 1 km each.

The most direct variant from Nebikon to Werthenstein via Ettiswil, past Grosswangen to Soppensee and then to the Werthenstein pilgrimage chapel - true to the motto "like pulled by dew / straight as a line". 22.7 km +206m ascent -116m descent (=25 performance kilometers) with 6 km asphalt (=18%). At Grosswangen, 0.5 km of asphalt could be saved, but then one would have to walk 1.2 km further. Other variants not yet tested by the author: a) Continue along the Wigger to Schötz until shortly before Willisau where you meet the Jakobsweg and then follow it in the opposite direction to Buholz. b) Follow the Via Gottardo via Sursee - Emmen to Lucerne

The section Werthenstein - Willisau is part of the Luzerner Weg, which will lead us from Lucerne to Rüeggisberg. We are on the Swiss Jakobswege.
