The 10 most beautiful mountain hikes in Walensee

Finally a proper summer day. The Nüenchamm is just right as a hiking destination. Got up early and was already on the way before 7:00 a.m., following the hiking trail of the chairlift up to the mountain station. There is already coffee there, but soon the ascent to the summit cross of the Nüenchamm continues..... All in all a great hiking day.

Very beautiful but very difficult hike at the foot of the Churfirsten in St. Galler Toggenburg. Among experts, the hike is also called the "Schnürliweg".

There are only few people to be found in the Glarus region, but today, on July 18, 2025, it is supposed to be happening again. This time I chose a not so demanding mountain route to Nüenchamm, because my fitness and my knee after the accident still leave much to be desired. As the first "passenger" of the Filzbach-Habergschwänd chairlift, I rode up to the mountain station at 8:50 am.

A comfortable, short, but still challenging hike is planned for today. The circular route starting from Amden to Chapf and back is suitable for this. The outbound path, especially between Giregärtli and Chapf, is very steep and demanding. Good hiking equipment and surefootedness are necessary.

Today I drove by car to the Tannenbodenalp (Flumserberg) and then took the cable car to Maschgenkamm. After that, the hike to Wissmeilen and Spitzmeilen began. Return to the Spitzmeilenbivouac SAC and back to Tannenbodenalp.

Breathtaking view from Leistchamm over Lake Walen, Säntis region, Bad Ragaz, Pizol, etc. (the stated time is without long breaks, i.e. pure hiking time!) Except for the last part to Leistchamm, it is a normal hike.
